Classroom Clip Chart
This year I will be using a behavior management system called the clip chart. Each child will have a clip on the clip chart. How Does it Work? Every student will start their clip on I am doing my Best to Learn each morning. Students will have the chance to move their clip up or down throughout the day depending upon the choices that they make. If a clip is moved up, it can be moved down if behavior worsens, and visa versa, if the clip is moved down, it can be moved up if the behavior improves. How can Students Clip Up or Clip Down? Below you will find an explanation of each section of the color chart and to the right, you can see exactly what our clip chart looks like! I am being a Role Model to others: Student clipped up three times for showing excellent behavior and making excellent choices. I am being Kind and Thoughtful: Student clipped up twice for showing great behavior or making great choices. I am making Smart Choices: Student clipped up one time for showing good behavior or making good choices. I am doing my Best to Learn: Students begin each day here. The student did not get in trouble and clip down, or go above and beyond to clip up. I can make Better Choices: Students clipped down as a warning of bad behavior. If your child clips down, please discuss the behavior with them. I can Improve my behavior: Students clipped down twice because of a poor choice. The teacher will decide an acceptable consequence for this action. I can Accept the Consequences for my behavior: Students that had to move down three times made very poor choices. Teacher and parent will decide on an appropriate consequence. How are Parents Involved? At the end of each day, students will record where they ended on on their recording sheet (located in the back of the students homework folder). If students were below the starting point, "I am doing my Best to Learn," they will be expected to fill in why they had to clip down. I ask that you speak with your child about this behavior and sign beside their comment. |
